Collection 2007
Adamah’s creations are mainly inspired from the day to day life in Senegal. It’s a predominantly religious country, where beliefs are at the centre of existence. Life there follows the paths of mysticism and chance, always permeated with the presence of the ancestors.
An important part of life takes place outdoors. The streets and the markets are full of life, with stunning colors, constant noises, chants of all kind, a variety of smells. A continual stimulation for all senses.
You find them everywhere you go, in the market, in the stores, in private houses. They’re originally meant to contain rice or onions, but people use them to store food or anything else. The sacks are pink or green, flashy gold or in rough jute. We imagined this series of hand bags that reflect the beauty of the material and the contrast with its original use.
